Professional German Cockroach Control, Guaranteed
German cockroaches live and breed entirely indoors, and a few can become thousands in a matter of months. Our Pest Pros treat where they hide and come back until the job is done.
Protect Your Family’s Health
The EPA warns that allergens from cockroach droppings, shed skins, and saliva can set off asthma and allergies, especially in kids, and that roaches can carry food-borne germs. German cockroaches stay close to kitchens and bathrooms, right where your family eats and gets ready.

How Our German Cockroach Cleanout Works
A typical cleanout follows four steps, adjusted to the size of your infestation:Prepare for Your German Cockroach Treatment
Sanitation is critical to getting rid of German cockroaches. Our checklist shows you exactly how to prepare.- Clean under and behind cabinets, sinks, stoves, and refrigerators
- Empty kitchen and bathroom cabinets and pantries, vacuuming as you go
- Clear countertops, the stove top, and the top of the refrigerator
- Remove pet food and dishes, and take all garbage outside
- Plan for people and pets to be out of your home for 4 hours after treatment
- Don’t use store-bought pesticides after treatment, since they can interfere with our products
A typical German cockroach cleanout includes the initial treatment plus 2 to 3 follow-up visits, each about one to two weeks apart, depending on the size of the infestation.
How to Tell If You Have German Cockroaches
- Small, about 1/2 to 5/8 inch long
- Light brown to tan, with two dark stripes running lengthwise on the shield behind the head. No other common Tennessee roach has them
- Found mostly in kitchens and bathrooms, near warmth, food, and moisture
- Fully winged, but they rarely fly
Brown-banded cockroaches are similar in size but have bands running side to side across the body, and they spread throughout the home instead of sticking to kitchens and bathrooms. See our German cockroach identification guide for photos and more detail, or read about other cockroaches we treat.
Signs of German Cockroaches
- Droppings: Tiny black specks like ground pepper or coffee grounds in drawers, cabinet hinges, and corners
- Egg capsules: Small, tan, purse-shaped capsules, sometimes still attached to a female
- Shed skins: Light brown skins in cabinets and behind appliances
- A musty odor: A stale, oily smell in cabinets and pantries with heavy activity
- Roaches in daylight: A sign the population has outgrown its hiding places
German cockroaches don’t come in from the yard. They hitchhike in grocery bags, cardboard boxes, used appliances and furniture, and luggage, and in apartments and townhomes they can travel between units through shared walls and plumbing. Even a very clean home can pick them up.
Why German Cockroaches Are So Hard to Get Rid Of
A female German cockroach carries an egg capsule holding about 30 to 40 eggs until it’s ready to hatch, and several generations can develop in a year. Because they live and breed entirely indoors, a small problem can grow quickly.
That’s why a single spray rarely works, and why sanitation matters so much. Crumbs, grease, garbage, and pet food keep a colony going. Store-bought pesticides can also interfere with professional products, so we ask customers not to use them after treatment. When we handle the treatment and you handle the sanitation, the cleanout works.
German Cockroach Treatment Pricing
No two German cockroach infestations are alike, so we price your cleanout at the free inspection, based on what we find. Most customers stay on a yearly program afterward so the roaches don’t return.
Seeing large roaches instead, like American or smoky brown cockroaches? Those are covered under our general pest control, which starts at $60 per visit. Learn more about our cockroach control.

German Cockroach FAQs
How much does German cockroach treatment cost?
We price each cleanout at the free inspection, based on how big the infestation is.
How many visits does it take?
A typical cleanout is the initial treatment plus 2 to 3 follow-up visits. The first follow-up is within one to two weeks, and the next comes one to two weeks after that, depending on how severe the infestation is.
How do I prepare for treatment?
Start with sanitation: clean under appliances and cabinets, empty kitchen and bathroom cabinets, clear the counters, take out the trash, and put pet food away. The preparation checklist walks you through the rest.
Do I need to leave my home during treatment?
Yes. Plan for people and pets to be out of your home for at least 4 hours after treatment.
Can I spray store-bought roach killer after treatment?
Please hold off. Over-the-counter pesticides can interfere with our products and slow the cleanout down.
How do I know they’re German cockroaches?
Look for small, light brown roaches with two dark stripes on the shield behind the head, mostly in kitchens and bathrooms. Your Pest Pro will confirm it during your free inspection.
What happens after the cleanout?
Most customers stay on a yearly program to keep German cockroaches away, and if they turn up between visits, we’ll return for free.
Can German cockroaches come in on grocery bags or boxes?
Yes. They hitchhike in grocery bags, cardboard boxes, used appliances, and luggage, which is why even very clean homes can get them.
