Spider Control for Nashville and Middle Tennessee Homes
U.S. Pest Protection provides spider control across Nashville and Middle Tennessee as part of our general pest control, which starts at $60 per visit. Every visit includes cobweb removal within reach and treatment for the insects spiders feed on, all backed by our Whatever It Takes Guarantee. Brown recluse and black widow spiders aren’t covered under general pest control and are treated as separate services. Wondering if that spider is dangerous? Call 615-590-1260 and a real person at our Middle Tennessee office will help, or schedule a free inspection.
Professional Spider Control You Can Trust
Tennessee has hundreds of spider species, but only two are medically significant: the brown recluse and the black widow. Most spiders around homes are harmless, and our Pest Pros can tell you which is which.
Why You’re Seeing More Spiders This Fall
Spiders are most noticeable indoors in late summer and fall, when they look for mates and shelter. They’re drawn to homes with plenty of other insects to eat, plus clutter and undisturbed hiding spots. That’s why treating the insects spiders feed on is a big part of keeping spiders down.

Your Pest Pro will identify the spiders you’re seeing, check where they’re coming in and hiding, and confirm whether you’re dealing with a brown recluse or black widow, which need their own treatment. You’ll get your price at the inspection, before we start.Total Home Pest Protection, Made Simple

What Spider Control Includes
Every general pest control visit includes:Common Spiders in Middle Tennessee
Harmless spiders:
- House spiders: Small, mottled brown spiders behind most of the cobwebs in corners and windows. They rarely bite and help by catching flies and mosquitoes.
- Cellar spiders: Tiny bodies and very long, thin legs, often called daddy longlegs. You’ll find them in basements, crawl spaces, and ceiling corners.
- Wolf spiders: Large, hairy, striped hunters that run on the ground instead of building webs. They often wander inside in late summer and fall.
- Orb weavers and jumping spiders: Orb weavers build large, round webs in gardens and around porch lights, and jumping spiders are small, fuzzy spiders that hop. Both are harmless.
Medically significant spiders:
- Brown recluse: Tan to brown with a violin-shaped mark behind the head. They hide in closets, attics, and boxes. Brown recluse treatment is a separate service.
- Black widow: Shiny black females with a red hourglass underneath. They build messy webs in woodpiles, sheds, and garages. Black widow treatment is a separate service.
Not sure what you’re seeing? Our spider identification guide can help you tell them apart.
Black Widows: Where They Hide
Black widows are shy and usually bite only when pressed against skin, often when someone reaches into a woodpile, shed, or garage corner without looking. They tend to build their messy, very strong webs low to the ground in places like:
- Woodpiles, stacked lumber, and brush
- Sheds, barns, and garages, especially in corners and under shelves
- Crawl spaces and unfinished basements
- Water meter boxes, utility boxes, and irrigation valve boxes
- Under outdoor furniture, grills, and play equipment
- Inside gloves, boots, and equipment left outside
Look before you reach into these spots, and shake out gloves and boots that have been sitting outside. Black widows aren’t covered under general pest control, so they’re treated as a separate service. If you’re finding them around your home, ask us about it during your free inspection.
Brown Recluse Spiders: A Separate Service
All of Tennessee is within the brown recluse’s native range. These shy spiders hide in wall voids, clutter, and storage, and they can go months without food, which makes them hard to get rid of. That’s why brown recluse treatment is completely separate from general pest control, with its own treatment plan and its own pricing.
If you think you have brown recluses, see our brown recluse removal service or schedule a free inspection. You’ll know the exact price before any work begins.

No, that’s a myth. Cellar spiders, often called daddy longlegs, have venom for catching small prey, but there’s no evidence it’s dangerous to people, and they almost never bite.
What if spiders come back between visits?
If spiders or webs return between visits, call and we’ll come back out at no extra charge. Our Whatever It Takes Guarantee backs every visit.
Is a wolf spider dangerous?
No. Wolf spiders look intimidating, but they’re harmless hunters that often wander inside in late summer and fall. They’re covered under general pest control.
