White House Pest Control — Protecting the Town Named for a Stagecoach Inn for 40+ Years
Family-owned pest protection for a historic stagecoach-stop town along the I-65 growth corridor — for over 40 years.
White House takes its name from a real stagecoach inn, a two-story house built in 1829 by Richard Stone Wilks along the Louisville and Nashville Turnpike, painted white at a time when most buildings were left as raw wood, so stagecoach drivers simply started calling the stop “the White House.” Local history holds that President Andrew Jackson himself stayed there while traveling between Washington and his home at the Hermitage. The original inn came down in 1951, but a reconstruction now serves as the White House Inn Library and Museum in the center of town. Modern White House sits at Exit 108 on I-65, straddling the Sumner and Robertson county line, and has grown to nearly 13,000 residents, with a mix of historic homes near downtown and newer neighborhoods built up along Highway 31W and the interstate interchange. That mix, a 19th-century stagecoach-stop core and rapid commercial and residential growth along the interstate, is what shapes local pest pressure differently from a single-character town. For more than 40 years, our family-owned team has protected White House homes and businesses, from the historic downtown out toward Cottontown, Cross Plains, and Portland.
Being a historic stagecoach-stop town that’s grown rapidly along an interstate corridor shapes which pests show up and where. Here’s what we see most in White House homes and businesses:
Termites & Carpenter Ants
Termites & carpenter ants in historic downtown construction
The buildings around White House’s historic downtown, in the tradition of structures like the reconstructed White House Inn, are exactly the kind of aging wood-frame construction subterranean termites and carpenter ants target. They swarm in spring (typically March through May) and feed year-round below grade. An annual inspection and a monitored barrier matter especially for the area’s oldest homes.
Stink Bugs
Stink bugs and other seasonal invaders
As temperatures drop each fall, brown marmorated stink bugs and other occasional invaders cluster on the sunny, south-facing walls of White House homes looking for a way in through gaps around siding, windows, and utility penetrations. Sealing those entry points before the first cool snap keeps a fall nuisance from becoming a winter one.
Rodents
Rodents seeking shelter
As White House’s newer neighborhoods along Highway 31W and the I-65 interchange fill in alongside older homes near downtown, mice and rats move readily between construction sites, fields, and nearby structures looking for shelter. We seal entry points and treat the interior together, not one without the other.
Mosquitoes & Ticks
Mosquitoes and ticks
White House’s mix of rolling farmland, newer subdivisions, and green spaces gives mosquitoes and ticks plenty of habitat. Ticks ride in on pets and pant cuffs after time outdoors, while low, shaded spots breed mosquitoes after rain. Our program treats the yard, tree line, and outbuildings, not just the porch.
Wood-Boring Beetles
Wood-boring beetles
Alongside termites, wood-boring beetles target the same aging wood-frame construction common in White House’s historic downtown core. We identify which wood-destroying pest is actually present before recommending treatment, since the approach differs.
Seasonal Rodents
The fall rodent push
As temperatures drop from September into November, mice and rats move off fields and construction sites and into garages, crawlspaces, and attics looking for a warm winter home. Sealing entry points before the first cold snap is far easier than evicting an established population in January.
Your White House Pest Calendar
What to expect through the year across White House’s historic downtown and growing interstate corridor — and when to act:
Spring
(Mar–May)
Termite swarms begin around historic downtown construction, and the season’s first mosquitoes and ticks become active. Best window for a termite inspection.
Summer
(Jun–Aug)
Mosquitoes and ticks peak in yards and green spaces; wasp and yellowjacket nests grow large on decks and eaves; ant and rodent pressure builds around new construction along 31W and I-65.
Fall
(Sep–Nov)
Rodents move off fields and construction sites and into homes and businesses ahead of winter; stink bugs cluster on sunny walls. Prime time to seal up.
Winter
(Dec–Feb)
Rodents settle into attics and crawlspaces; overwintering pests hide in wall voids. The quiet season to plan exclusion and lock in termite protection.
